Fullsky were invited by staff at the Rural Clinical School of WA to help bring a diverse range of stakeholders together to design and raise the funding for the Western Desert Kidney Health Project. The project was a partnership between the people of the Western desert and four partner organisations:
The aim of the project is to reduce kidney disease by 20% in ten Aboriginal communities operating out of Kalgoorlie. Two six tonne 4WD trucks with a team of doctors, Aboriginal health workers, artists and community development workers travel to ten communities over three years to screen people for kidney disease and devise culturally appropriate health messages.
The Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA), a collaboration of University of Western Australia and Notre Dame University, trains medical students in 13 regional sites across WA. It has the explicit goal of attracting more doctors to rural regional and remote practice.
